I’m working on a model of a basement remodel and have the 1/2 bath modeled as a component. When I go in to edit the component the bounding box goes way out in the red and green directions, apparently because of the location of the axes. See attached screenshot.
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to change the axes to bring it in line with the component geometry. Help please.
Your screenshot shows the component in the edit context. I can only guess without looking at the file. You could attach a skp for someone to help you. You can drag a skp or use something like WeTransfer and share the link if it’s a large file. Have you tried using the Axes tool?
Exit the component edit mode, right click on the component, choose Change Axes. Place the origin at the desired corner of the component followed by the red and finally the green axis.
Before doing that it might be worth figuring out why the origin is so far from the geometry. Is there a guide or some stray geometry at the origin? Did you open the component for editing and then move the geometry away from the component’s origin?
I was able to change the axes based on your comment and the video below. Guess I should get better at RTFM and videos.
After changing the axes the bounding box in component editing mode was correct, just outside of the geometry of the component, so I assume there’s no stray geometry out there in the nether regions.
Not that I recall but it must have been something I did. This is a recurring theme for me. I either do things unintentionally and find out later, then have to fix it. Or I do something (like nesting groups) only to find out later that I made poor choices and it’s really hard to work with the model in later stages. I’m getting there. Thanks again for the help.
