Automatic display level with Curic Single-Line Text extension

Hi, I want to share how I use Curic Single-Line Text to automatic display level on any surface.

My video has no sound but English caption.

Curic Sing-Line Text (download here: Curic Single-Line Text (Beta) - this plugin is free but requires a Curic Studio can only be used)

The pitch point has been “modified” to automatically round up units (e.g. 1231 => 1230)
If you want to use my level symbol to display the pitch automatically like a video, download the SketchUp file here:

I have only recently been made aware of this extension. It would be great to see someone like @JustinTSE review it. Videos without commentary can be quite hard to follow. It looks as if this extension allows you to edit text without having to start over. But maybe its chief advantage is its ability to link to embedded data. This is something you can’t do in Layout which is probably where most professionals would put their text.

Recently this extension was released as a separate plugin it seems.

It allows user using Ruby code in the Editor with a block code #{code here} and return the result. That’s very special.

It’s like AutoCAD attributes on steroids! Something like this it’s sorely needed in LayOut.

Yes, it is.

Hi Cyentruk! Do you know something about the relation of this plugin with Curic Studio?
While in beta it was compulsory to have Studio to use this one, I could not find any info about this v.1 release. Thanks in advance!

Hi, this official version is not need Curic Studio, it has it own licesene manager.

I cannot get the Auto Positioning feature to work. I have contacted Curic and they kindly wrote back and said that I should re-link the text to the current face I want to align with. I cannot get it to work though. I am probably doing something wrong, but I cannot see what it is. Has anyone experienced the same issie and solved it? Thanks

Did you watch the extension presentation video? Have you tried both options?

Right click over selected text (CSLT) > Single Line Text > Re-Link with the Model
Right click over selected text (CSLT) > Single Line Text > Auto Position

@Cyentruk, thank you for your tutorial about Curic Single-Line Text! One of the few (about three probably) existing tutorials for CSLT, but which mattered and was helpful to me. Thanks!

@Cyentruk it seems like there is a ton of different formulas for actions the the text will do all i can find are videos with no verbiage and move way to fast to follow what you are doing.

*Do you have a list of these formula’s (for roof pitch, floor area, ECT)?
*My "Re’link with model button does nothing ( i have to make a new single line text. if I change the name of of the component/group.
*What is the Link tool do?

Hi, you can acces full list of variables here:
Variables

The link tool only work with variables start with @linked_xxx from the list.

@Cyentruk do i have to click all the way into a group for the linked text to work?

I am also not following how to lock the text to the item? I’m labeling windows/doors. and if I move the window I need to move the lable too
