Anyone using SketchUp Pro & Layout 2019 on a new Mac mini 3.0GHz 6-Core 16GB

I’m thinking of buying a new Mac mini, is anyone running SketchUp Pro & Layout on this particular Mac mini?

3.0GHz 6-Core Processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz
256GB Storage

  • Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz

I haven’t tried with a Mac Mini but there have been so many issues with Intel graphics and since integrated graphics aren’t recommended, I would be reluctant to buy that without having the opportunity to install SketchUp 2019 and run it with my typical models myself, first.

Most, or maybe all, integrated Intel graphics issues are on Windows. Here’s an in depth review of that GPU:

I would bet a lot that a modern integrated GPU is much faster than the discreet GPU from a few years ago, and ought to do quite well.

But don’t quote me, DaveR is usually right.

You are right Colin, most of the problems reported have been on Windows. I was only expressing that I would personally steer clear of Intel graphics based on the well-documented history. I’d also be reluctant to make a decision to buy without testing the hardware set up myself.

Thanks to you both, that is what I have read in earlier posts (from ‘Anssi’). I’ll check out that link and hope that I can find an affordable mac mini or mbp that runs sketchup adequately.

I have used SketchUp since version 3, all on Mac. The perfection of a dedicated high end PC with fabulous video card, is different to what is perfectly good enough.
