I had to uninstall SketchUp 2025.0.660 because it keeps crashing and causing errors despite my system having high specifications. I switched back to SketchUp 2024, which is really stable and hassle-free to use.
It’s very disappointing that the latest version is unstable compared to the older one. I hope your team can address these issues and release a more reliable update soon, as many users, including myself, rely on SketchUp for professional work. Stability and smooth performance should be the top priority in every new release.

Hi @rynian, thanks for the post and sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the latest version of SketchUp. We do a lot of testing to ensure that we squash as many bugs as possible before we make any changes to anything in SketchUp and we do our best to put out as stable a version as possible. Sometimes, things slip past us. Can you let me know the bugsplat number of your crash if you have one? I can ask someone to look it up and we may be able to find out what the issue is.
Additionally, are you running any extensions in 2025 and are you using the classic graphics engine or the new one? Knowing this will narrow things down a lot.
Finally, if you can tell us some additional details about what you are doing as the crash happens that would be helpful.
What is a user supposed to do if all their crashes happen without a bugsplat?
Hi @Ryan, thanks for the post. If you are getting a crash without a bugsplat that is a little harder to diagnose, but we can still work with you to try and resolve the issue. Before we get started, can you verify that you are running the latest version of SketchUp Pro? Can you also list any extensions that you are running?
or, you have to force quit?

TLDR: Sketchup crashes without bugsplats (mainly during the saving process)
Haven’t sent this in as a official problem yet because I haven’t figured out if it’s a hardware or software issue. That is why I listed so many drivers as this has been happening for the past month or better and I’ve been trying every possible solution.
Things I have tried with no difference in crashes:
Keep in mind, mix and match these to your hearts content and I have tried nearly every combination on every version.
This computer is a brand new build as of August so I’ve been combating a lot of different issues all together but SketchUp seems to be taking the brunt of my issues. I cannot save in a normal way without it immediately crashing with no bugsplat to boot. It honestly feels like if I even look at the word “save” SketchUp starts acting weird.
Autosave seems to be my only saving grace for the most part. It will save in the background and I can locate the model in the folders where SketchUp recovers a model, copy that and use that as my save file. I’ve had to reduce my autosave to every 5 minutes on the chance that anything else causes SketchUp to crash. Creating a very inefficient workaround once my model size starts to bloat and autosave takes a hot minute to save. Start, stop, start, stop. But hey, my model slowly progresses, clients are eventually happy. But if I manually try and save the file I have been working on that day, it will crash on command. And to make it even more confusing of an issue to address, if I copy my entire model into a fresh SketchUp file and manually save it right away, there will be no issue with it saving.
Now the one thing I have noticed. If CabinetSense is enabled, the thin ice seems to worsen. Sometimes autosave, sometimes an exploding of a group, sometimes closing a dialog box, sometimes move+copying an item, etc etc etc will crash my model with no bugsplat. I hate to use etc. but it honestly feels so random with what I am doing at the time it crashes that it doesn’t really matter what command I’m doing. If SketchUp has to think, it seems to just chuck up the deuces and quit on me. So there’s an issue there with that extension but doesn’t explain the save occurrences when it’s not even installed on my computer.
We have other computers here at the office with older computer specs that don’t have this issue. Even using a file that I’m having problems with, they run fine on others. So all signs point to some sort of issue with the 5070TI in my opinion but maybe you guys have some ideas that might help me out.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D has an integrated GPU
this means you’ve got some ropey AMD drivers to deal with too - make sure they are updated also.
Once you’ve done those updates, disable it in the bios and make sure windows and the Nvidia graphics drivers are set to use the high performance device
Haven’t messed with that, good suggestion.
I’ve noticed that every time I use Vertex tools sketchup crashes, sometimes is immediately sometimes is after a few minutes but it always crashes, it doesn’t happen with other plugins, I’ve made some test and sent a lot of bugsplats reports.
Not sure if it helps solve this, but I was running Profile Builder 4 in SU25 with the same results. Went back to SU24 and the problem went away. Most of the crashes were of the Force Quit variety, so generally no Bug Splats, but they were all reported through Apple.
I went back to 2023 Pro and Trimble will be dropping support Jan. 2026. No 3D Warehouse or Extension Warehouse. So, they’re forcing me to “upgrade” to an unstable version.
Both things you will still have access to, just via web browser and not directly within the application.
Curious with your Mac - I skipped 23 and waited for 24 and am now happily on 25. Are you running lots of extensions? I wonder if any of those might be causing issues.
of course I run extensions. I wouldn’t be able to get the work I do done efficiently without them. but, they’re stable on 2023. but 2025 wasn’t with pretty much the same ones installed. and how can one know that is was the extension(s)?testing extensions against SU and other extensions should not be the responsibility of the end user!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Never mind.
You’re also running a 2.5-year-old operating system, missing all the fixes, improvements, and stability updates Apple delivered in 2024 and 2025.
On top of that, you’re using an outdated version of SketchUp that Apple has to keep alive through a compatibility layer, since it was originally built for x86 machines.
And just so you know, Apple are phasing out support for that too.
I went from 2023 to 2025. Skipped 2024. As mentioned, I found 23 to be pretty stable so, rather then take a chance with 24, when I kept having problems with 25, I just reverted to what I already felt was a stable version.
huh? nothing in that was meant to be offensive
I’ve rephrased that - You might want to update your Mac first, as all of the drivers are contained in the OS updates.
