I have to say it’s very frustrating, no matter, for a long time now, it’s opened once in 3 or 4 times but today, sketchup just won’t open, it asks me which file I want to open, my old files won’t open, a new template file won’t open, nothing helps. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired and all that, nothing helps. This 2025 version is superb

If you need to get work done you can install 23 or 24, whichever one worked best for you.
When was the last time you rebooted your machine?
Do you have any extensions loaded? If you do - try renaming your plugins folder and opening SKP again.
Did you have any recent bug splats? Did you send them in with a description of what happened and your email address?
I work on a Mac, but you might try finding where SKP saves autosaves - it might be in AppData somewhere. I had an issue once where SKP wouldn’t load because an autosave was corrupted. I deleted the files in the recovery folder, rebooted the machine it worked fine.
Make a screen capture of the problem - opening a file and it closing….and upload it as a GIF or mp4. If it’s too big to post, upload to a cloud drive like dropbox or google drive and post link. It’s going be really difficult for anyone to diagnose without more information.
Are you in the Windows preview program?
I looked at all of the bugsplats you sent in, thanks for sending those.
Two involve something called nitro. All of the rest are Thea related. I see that nitro is part of Thea.
Could you try disabling or uninstalling Thea, and see if files then open ok. Check to see if you have the latest extensions from them.
If you end up contacting Thea support, I can send them your bugsplat report, which may help them to see what is crashing.
I couldn’t really, it opened in the blink of an eye.
I uninstalled everything this morning. I had to move forward with a contract. Yesterday, I installed Sketchup 2024 and it still had issues.
This morning, I went to see how to do a clean install. I deleted everything from 2024 and 2025 and reinstalled 2025.
I reinstalled Thea’s plugin, and now I no longer have the file opening problem.
I’m a little nervous about reinstalling my plugins; I have a few that I use daily.
List the extensions you use. Maybe there’s one that sticks out as a problem.

I only saw Thea as having problems. The other extensions are most likely ok.
