Hi, how do I add dimensions to a front view of a cone?
What dimensions do you want to show? Can you share the .skp file so we can see exactly what you’ve got?

I want to show the length of the cone between the lengths of the other parts
I would do something like this. It’s done in LayOut.
You could dimension the diameter at each point instead of using “typ.”
Similar for the lengths in SketchUp.
The units in layout i set in milimeters, but the dimensions shows in meters. Where can I change that?
With the Dimension tool selected or existing dimensions selected, set Length to Millimeter in the Dimension Style panel.
Okay thanks, needed that to test the suggestion.
The measurements are wrong, the problem is it doesnt snap to points that are perpendicular to each other.
Save and share your LayOut file so I can see what you’ve done. It clearly worked for me.
I did explode all your objects and make a single one from the geometry. No need to have separate groups for the ends.
Sorry, I got it now ,have to be more careful when picking points…
How do I add dimensions to the diameter? Your drawing shows the radiuses.
Those are just labels. In my haste trying to make the example I typed the wrong numbers. Fixed, though. LayOut doesn’t have a radius or diameter dimension tool yet.
Are you still using SketchUp/LayOut 2018?
Fine, thankyou very much.
No, I have Sketchup 2024, but this page doesnt seem to know
BTW, you might find it easier to place dimensions if you turn off Grid Snap in the Arrange menu.
No. You have to tell it. You can update your profile by clicking on the E in the green circle at the top right corner of the forum page. Click on the person icon, then Preferences and Profile. Update the SketchUp version and the hardware if you’ve got a newer computer. Scroll to the bottom of the page to save the updates.
Okay, I will do that!
If you would like to do all that in SketchUp, see this SU file for ideas.

Thank you, that looks very good!
