5D+ Plus - Flexible Documentation For Architects

I am NOT using 5D+ shadow settings… yet I find that every now and then that 5D+ has changed the global sun to a northern hemisphere preset :frowning:

How can I prevent 5D+ interfering with the solar settings?

I am using my sketchup model for both construction documentation as well as ongoing client communication, so it is important to keep the Australian solar settings at all times for the presentations.

P.S.:
its quickly fixed by deleting/reinstating the location, but it would be preferable if I didnt have to do it again and again

Thanks for any insights!

What button you pressed that makes the north settings change?

Huhm, that must be a bug because 5D+ never want to touch global north of the model except user activate 5D+ Shadows, but it only affect that scene only.

Let me find out why.

I can confirm this is a bug, and it will be fixed in the next release (v2.2.4) within a couple days.

Amazing - Thanks!

FYI, some more info (in case that gives you some more clues):

  1. I don`t know which button or action might have caused it. I use the shadows only sporadically, therefore noticing this shadow quirk is usually time delayed .

  2. I noticed the bug not just in the latest 5D+verison. It happened the last handful off versions, too.

  3. only happed sporadically… say twice a month or so.

Hi again @Cyentruk

Setting “scene bounds” could be simpified:

Have a look at the attached excercise, creating a 1:20 balcony detail section, using your very handy “scene bounds” tool.

It appears that all SIX sides of the pink bounding box have to be postioned close to the balcony in order for the “fit view bounds” to be successful ( = second attempt in the video)

It would be simper and more direct if in an ortogonal view only the FOUR sides needed to be moved, i.e. if the extra step of depth-cropping could be omitted.

Thanks for your consideration. Greetings from Australia

Hi,

Let try “Callout Tool” from new feature Annotations. Much more handy.

Then you can use Select Tool and right click to the symbol to “Goto Callout scene” or the Clipping Mask to “Goto Source Scene”

I love the new dim and annotation tools!

Question:
Can the 5D+ Select Tool be used to delete a single dimesion?

So far I was only able to delete a dimension with the SU native select tool (normal procedure: doubleclick into the dimension group, select dimension and press “del” key)

I also have a question : I tried to create an annotation but had a dialog pop up saying I can’t in this view .. while it was a plan view.

What are the view in which I have to create annotations and dimensions?

Currently, 5D+ Select Tool cannot select dimenions and annotations, but labels, grids, and normal objects.

You may need to convert that scene to 5D+ Scene first. You can place labels, grids… then it can be automatically converted to 5D+ Scene, or you can use 5D+ Scenes Manager, right click to the scene then choose Convert to 5D+ Scene from the context menu.

I was placing labes and dimensions but can’t put annotation, I will send a screenshot

The dimensions can be placed in 3D views but annotation can’t, currently.

Thanks @faizmuhadi, @hnrkndr

These changes in v2.2.5 improve the overall stability of the extension.

Hello again

level grid properties:
I struggle to keep the graphics that I intend. I find that upon updating the level grid, 5D+ re-draws it differently than I initially created it.

I am ticking this box diligently for every singe scene … Am I using it incorrectly?

Label positioning:

I vaguely remember an instructional video that demonstrated the alignment of 5D+ Labels…?

I tried the Curic Align plugin on window labels, but the result was not great (see screen vid).

Is there another plugin that gives us fast label alignment?

P.S.: I know of the 5D+ selector tool. It works well on individual labels, but I want to explore manipulating the position of multiple items

align 5D+labels with curic

reporting a very minor bug:

the scene tabs switch themselves on when using 5D+Plus 2.2.5

Curic Align works well in this case but in the gif image, I see you were using Curic Space (not Curic Align)

You did nothing wrong but since I design the options is displayed priority as follow:

  1. The options applied to the scene
  2. The options saved as default (like you did)
  3. The recent options applied for any scenes
  4. The default options recommened by plugin.

So the problem is, the options saved as default is only called when the scene has not any level grids options (never created level grids before).

I made this to avoid the default options overided the options saved per scene which is set with specific rules to display for a scene.

I 'll add an option to switch between default saved options and scene saved options in the next release.

Aha! thanks for the guidance
