Hey everyone! At long last, the wait is over. Many of you have been wondering when you get to fly through a 3D model like a dream. We’re excited to share that 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse is supported in SketchUp for Web on both Windows and Mac OS X…
Of course, the latest SpaceMouse hardware is recommended and the latest drivers are a must.
To get started (assuming you have a SpaceMouse with the latest drivers), open SketchUp for Web and then open the 3Dconnexion Properties Driver.
In the 3Dconnexion Properties, click the Configure drop-down and select “SketchUp for Web.”
Click the Navigation tab and use the settings that you like. Personally, I learned to use a 3Dconnexion device with the Target Camera motionmodel back in the day, so I always use that setting.
Thanks, Tommy! Do you have a specific version of the driver that works for this? My driver says I am up-to-date, but I don’t see “SketchUp for Web” in the app list. That said, my 3d mouse DOES work in SU4Web, but I cannot find a way to lock the horizon.
I appreciate your patience, as most of the team was out for the office for the holiday. I hope 2025 finds you well. Upon checking, we were unable to reproduce your issue on our end. So, speaking with our technical support team is the best thing to do from here.
After completely uninstalling and re-installing the 3dconnexion software, I can confirm that it is now working as expected. Thanks for adding this feature to your product!
Hi, is there any chance to get a SpacePilot working with SketchUp Web?
with the 3DxWare 10.9.3.671 the software says no device found. If I use the latest recommended driver for the SpacePilot it seems that there is no SketchUp support. Using it produce like a stick and slip effect.
Would be sad if I couldn’t use it.
Thanks!
Hi everyone. In my case, it didn’t work in Chrome when using a 3DConnexion SpaceMouse, but it worked fine in Microsoft Edge.
I don’t know why (everything is updated to the latest version). Whatever the reason, Edge works perfectly for me.
Hope this helps somebody!
Thanks a lot!
After going back and forth with this for a long time — uninstalling and reinstalling the 3Dconnexion drivers several times, testing SketchUp for Web in both Chrome and Edge, etc. — I thought I had it solved by using Microsoft Edge only. But then my SpaceMouse stopped working properly again with the online version of SketchUp.
In the end, I think I finally figured out why it wasn’t responding (this may be obvious to some people, but it will probably help others).
The fix was to enable permission for the site https://app.sketchup.com/app
in the browser settings:
Privacy / Site permissions / “Sites can ask to connect to local network devices” → Allow
Once I enabled that, the SpaceMouse started working again.
