when I for instance download a window from 3D warehouse, I import it into my model. Then I want to search for another window I open 3d warehouse within SU the page it takes me to is the same windw. I is very unlikely that I would download the same window again and more likely that I would want a different window. So in warehouse I have get rid of the prior downloaded window page and again type window to do another search for ‘window’ It would be better if when I open warehouse, is should take me to my search for “window”
yep.
it’s a classic gripe with the in-sketchup warehouse, it closes upon download, then reopens and don’t allow you to go backward.
if you ask around here, many long time users will tell you they use the warehouse in their browser for multiple reasons :
- the one you mention
- the ability to open models in tabs and grab an URL
- it forces you to download models separately, therefore it’s simpler to open / clean them before importing them in your model.
beyond using your own browser, no solution for the moment. I don’t know how much of an active choice it is vs a limitation by the way chromium is implemented in sketchup.
There is a use case where what it does now makes sense. Image you are searching for a chair, when you are at the search results page you can download a model, you don’t have to go into a single chair in order to download it. Then when the chair is in your model you might decide to get a different chair, and so the window is already where you need to be.
There is one thing that could be fixed. If you did go into an individual chair, the back arrow should take you to the chair results. It doesn’t do that.
