3d Warehouse Internal error crash on Mac

The 3D warehouse crashes every time I use it. This just started happening and I think it is because I updated to OS X El Capitan. Please let me know if I can do anything to fix this.

Um, yea, we don’t really support beta OS’s. We tried it on initial El Capitan and it seemed fine. Visually, it looks like Javascript failed - try opening in Safari 9 and see what you get. It looks like it’s complaining about fonts.

Barry, I know you don’t support betas (and you shouldn’t) but please reassure us that this time you guys are proactively testing against the El Capitan betas. A repeat of the Yosemite fiasco would be quite embarrassing!

I am running El Capitan, and all the SketchUp sessions I’ve done under it have been successful. But I hadn’t tried 3D Warehouse (get models…) since beta 3 was released, and it is possible that it may have crashed for me too.

The reason I think this is because Apple released a supplement build, only three days after the beta 3 release. The supplement was to take care of an issue where 32 bit apps were crashing on launch.

Is there any 32 bit code in the 3D Warehouse window?

In any case, if you are running 10.11 beta 3, make sure to install the update from last night.

Yea, but considering I don’t test SketchUp, I responded quickly with cause and workarounds, didn’t I? I’ll fwd on to the SketchUp testers… they’ll enjoy.

Shouldn’t be 32 bit code. But I’ll check. We do see some funny things with PC’s when Microsoft ships both 32 and 64 bit browsers… Macs do most of that behind the scenes and a bit smoother usually, although being a beta I could see it happening.

One other note about the original crash report, it’s not uncommon in beta software for program imperfections to be shown to you, instead of the OS just taking care of it behind the scenes. The dialog you saw is the beta OS giving you a chance to opine on whether you think this really is a crashing case, or just a minor annoyance. I just had one of those show up in Mail, and chose to Continue, without Mail seeming to be any worse off.

So, even if nobody fixed anything, there’s a good chance SketchUp will be ok in the final version of 10.11.
