2025 Layout shutting down when updating or relinking SketchUp model

POSSIBLE SOLUTION: I updated the NVidia driver and my first attempt to update the model went without shutting down. :crossed_fingers:

Hi There,

I am experiencing an issue in the last 2-3 weeks with layout.

It seems to just quit/ shut down when I try to update or re-link the SketchUp file. It doesn’t even send a report as it just shuts off.

I am working with a large terrain geometry - already reduced to fraction of the original scan. It is manageable, once is open.

The Experimental Engine is not enabled. As the message popping up upon restart suggests that it might be the cause.

Is there anybody else who experiencing the same issue?

EDIT:
Even worst. Updating or Relinking upon re-opening Layout. All the windows go out of scale and proportion…I never seen this before. The plan is squashed, like scaled to one direction, all of the suddenly applied a frame around, The perspective goes into a point in the distance…Something is not working.

I am experiencing an other level of disruption today with Layout. I can not refresh it even after restarting the software and restarting the computer even.

Is there something going on?

EDIT 2:
Since I wrote the original post things got even worst. After an hour trying to open and update my file I am still not closer to keep Layout running. I am getting a bit paranoid wink: The problem is . I should get this drawing out Today, so I am getting a bit fed up.

Since updating my suite to 2025 last week I am now also experiencing constant CTD’s with no error message or crash log. Just, closes. This occurs frequently when refreshing the Sketchup view and almost always occurs if I save the document first, then click refresh. It happens whether I have the reference file open in Sketchup or not. This also happening across several different projects and not confined to one instance.

I’ve restarted my workstation multiple times, did memory checks etc. This didn’t occur, at least not nearly as frequent, in 2024 edition.

To say this is frustrating is an understatement. How embarrassing is this while working with a client who noticeably becomes concerned watching my software crash over and over during a design session. How do I justify charging a client for a meeting when almost nothing is getting accomplished because of software issues…not a good look at all.

Edit: as of this reply, Windows is fully updated and my nVidia drivers are also current (06/17).
