You need to log in, but you need to log in, but you ... again and again?

Why oh why do i need to log in after i logged in?

Had SUP22 open without login.
Went to SUP24 to give it a try, but needed to login? Well ok…
Added geo location with 2d map and started modelling, so far so good.
Needed a file i can only create using SUP22 due to its extentions, but once again i needed to login? (after i logged in earlier?!)
So managed to create the file and went back to SUP24 to import the file, so far so good.
Wanted to add more 2d map for the geo location, but wth, needed to login once again and again?

So why oh why does one need to login after one had logged in after one had logged in after login before i log in again after i logged in?! :exploding_head:

I believe you have to log in every time you switch the version of sketchup you are using. you are essentially signing out of one version when you sign into another.

Hmm kinda messed up if you ask me.
Specially when i did not close the latest version, just opened the older version to be able to create a file needed in the new version.

And going back to SUP22 will soon not be possible since they will discontinue the geo options soner or less later. Or some message of this kind showed up the other day while using SUP22 with geo location.

What a pita! (not the shoarma bread)

I can only suggest that the window opens in a browser which remembers your user details and auto fills them, saves a little time. I come across this as well flicking between older models made in 23

@AnnoNiem We’ve been looking into the re-login issues today and it is largely around the embedded web applications (3DW, extension warehouse, add location).
If you can, keeping both versions of sketchup open should minimise these issues. Extension warehouse and 3DW keep their windows open in the background so these are less affected.

The best sequence I have found is:

  1. Open Sketchup 2022, log in
  2. Open 3DW/EW in sketchup 2022 to ensure this gets logged in (if you are going to use them [until January])
  3. Open Sketchup 2024, log in
  4. Open Add location/3DW/EW in 2024 to ensure this gets logged in

Now you should be able to switch between them without having to log in again.

Obviously this is not a good situation, we’ve logged a bug with the appropriate team to fix this for future versions so that users don’t have to jump through these hoops.
