I’ve used tablets for over 30 years now, all Wacom until recently I decided to Xencelab a try particularly for the smaller desktop real estate, and especially for the thin pen. There are a couple places where clicking with the pen does nothing in SketchUp and Layout.
in SketchUp, the MacOS color pallet: All user interface elements work EXCEPT clicking on any color swatch. Nothing happens, but using the trackpad or a mouse does work.
in Layout, the pages pallet: Again, the user interface buttons work, but you can’t click on a page.
Anyone else use a Xencelabs tablet? Anyone on a Wacom who can test it’s compatibility with this?
Well, if you’ve used the iPad, you pretty much know what it’s like. Drawing on the screen means your hand can obscure part of what you’re looking at and working on, which isn’t true of either mouse or tablet & stylus. Biggest question for me is: I’m so used to dual monitors, I feel like using a pen display forces you back to working on a single display because the pen can’t reach any others.
You’re right! And I use the ipad as a screen display too, with a connecting app. However, sketchup for windows gets so small there that I never actually used it. I was thinking that you would happen to use sketchup exclusively with the tablet, but I didn’t relate to the fact that it’s a completely different device than a pen display.
I like what I do with the ipad when I use it as a pen display. I don’t use sketchup with it but I do a lot of markup and drawings or sketches so I think that would still be the reason for buying a larger screen.
I contacted support with Xencelabs, and they acknowledged hearing of some troubles and suggested trying the next beta release candidate. So far that seems to have solved it.
