I have a layout with dimension text, when I export it to dwg with SketchupModel’s “Raster” render Mode, the text is exist in dwg. However ,if I change the render mode to “Hybrid”, the text is output to dwg. Why is it ?
the text font is myself font, if the font is common font like “Calibri”, the text is output to dwg whatever rendermode it is , but I put myself fonr to “C:\Windows\Fonts” ,the text is still not outout to dwg…
It is possible that your own font is in a format that is not supported by AutoCad. Or that its size becomes minuscule when exported.
Post your LayOut and DWG file.
A raster viewport becomes an embedded raster image when exported to CAD, generally not very useful for any postprocessing work.
That is not the way to install fonts in Windows. You select the font file, wherever you have it stored, right-click and select “install”.
When exporting files for other peoples’ use, it is wisest to use only common Windows resources like fonts that the recipient is likely to have without a hassle.
model.dwg (123.6 KB)
model.layout (336.6 KB)
these is the layout ,and dwg .the system font can be exported to dwg,but the text of myself font can’t be export to dwg unless the render mode is Raster
You have the font set to be tiny in the SketchUp model.
It would work better if you add the dimensions in LayOut instead of adding them in SketchUp. Your “myself font” needs to be installed on your computer so it would become a system font.
I also notice incorrect tag usage.
Untagged should be kept active at all times.
I also see you aren’t using LayOut correctly. Don’t use Last saved SketchUp view as the scene. You should set up a scene in SketchUp for the view of the model you need.
It’s not a good idea to modify the Camera properties and, assuming you want to deal with your dwg export at scale, you should set an appropriate scale. The random one you have for the viewport will be difficult to deal with.
these are myself font file ,I split them to 3 zip ,because the file is too big
TureType Part1.zip (16.0 MB)
TureType Part2.zip (10.7 MB)
TureType Part3.zip (13.0 MB)
Is the font being too tiny the reason for the loss of fonts after exporting the DWG drawing?
I put the font files into the directory of C:\Windows\Fonts, but as a result, the DWG drawing exported by Layout still lacks my fonts.
I expect the answer is in the first sentence of @Anssi’s first reply to you.
You have to use a font that AutoCAD supports. It doesn’t support all the fonts you might have installed on your computer.
But did you install it? Copying the file into the folder is not installing.
There shouldn’t be anything special about the font. AutoCad supports TTF, OTF and SHX fonts.
I have install it
BUT I HAVE Install the font “TureType Part.zip” above…
That doesn’t mean that AutoCAD will support the font.
oh,then what can I do to make CAD support myself font?
Talk to the AutoDesk folks and tell them you want them to support your font. It will be easier to just select a supported font, though. Even if they decide to add support for your font it surely wouldn’t happen immediately. Is your “myself font” so important to you that you can delay your work until AutoDesk makes the changes required?
