So I have a stool that I got from the warehouse and I have changed the materials on it. Somehow the stool looks like it has a light source in it. See picture. I have changed materials and at one point I (thought) that I did everything that I could to make sure it wasn’t a material that was an illuminating one in Escape. But the stool still glows. Can anyone offer a solution or help me figure out the next troubleshooting thing to try please?
Are you looking at this in Enscape? I opened the model you uploaded and it looks fine in SketchUp. Did you mean to post this in the Extensions portion of the forum?
Honestly I wasn’t sure where to post it, since it was modeled in Sketchup but it glows in Enscape. So I figured I need to do something with the modeling of it - unless it is only an Enscape issue. I guess from what you are saying, I should re-post this in the extensions section…
No please, duplicate posts are against the rules. Dave has reassigned this topic.
(FYI, in the Discourse forum engine all topics are actually in one collection and their category is just a property of what list to show it under. So, changing the topic’s category is a simple matter of changing a property. As the topic starter, you can also edit this property via the pencil icon to the right of the Topic title.)
I wonder if one of the materials in the model has been assigned an illuminating property in Enscape. Possibly the Plastic-Lab stool that the underside of the leg and the ring under the seat have been painted with. In the ring the material is not visible as the faces inside have the Pewter… material already. I don’t have Enscape so I cannot say if there are other possibilities.
is this enscape 4.7 or 4.8? ive also been having this issues. not sure what it is. I thought it was default materials doing this but its not that. Definitely a bug in enscape. post it on their forum.
Yah, that’s what I thought I had addressed by going to each material and checking that it was tagged as a general type and not the type “self illuminated” but that didn’t address it. I should triple check that again, but ugh, I don’t think that’s it!
Seriously!? I guess I missed that! Shouldn’t it be that once you update the properties of a material it updates it throughout every application of that material?
I will check this out. Thank you so much for your help!
no, it’s an enscape material and those are enscape specific material property.
There are no universal settings for materials because every program uses their own interprettation of what is physically correct and some can’t actually display some of said properties correctly.
