I was using Sketchup viewer to view a model through an Oculus headset but it gives me like an error message saying I need to save the model as an older version? Am I doing something wrong or do I actually have to save it as an older version?
I am not up to date on what the app is expecting. You could open your model and choose File/Save As, and try to save as a 2020 model, see if that does any better.
Or, post the file online somewhere so that we can try it.
Hi Ahiezer,
This is Aris, I am the Product Manager for SketchUp Viewer VR.
You are not doing anything wrong. This is a known limitation of the current version, and it indeed does not support 2021/2022 skp files. We are aware of this, and we are working on a new version of the application that will address this issue, but cannot commit to a release date just yet.
In the meantime, you can either save your file to version 2020 or earlier, or you can use the AR/VR Extension on SketchUp Pro 2021 or 2022 and push your file directly to your tethered Oculus device with the SketchUp Viewer application running. You can find full instructions on how to use the extension here. Note that the instructions are for HoloLens 2 but the same applies for your Oculus device.
Apologies for the inconvenience and please let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Aris
Hi @idkyet123
We recently released the 2.5.31 version of the SketchUp Viewer for VR where we have fixed the issue and the app now supports skp files of version 2021 and later.
Please download the latest version of SketchUp Viewer for VR for use as a Windows PCVR application.
The latest version is also available in the Rift store: http://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/2090068151101542/
That means that once you have connected to the Oculus Home (Rift mode) you can go in the Store and look for SketchUp.
I hope that helps,
AK
Dear San, I am facing the same concern. However the latest version, I am able to download is not 2.5.31 but 2.4.29. Please support.
The files are increasing incase I am saving it in a lower version, which I am guessing is the reason for which the model taken 1 hour to load.
Sketchup version is 2023.
Hi @Sushovan
