I will in a few moments cause I downloading software
I have the same problem. There is no menu bar across the top for things like edit.
The pan command is embedded with the orbit icon and you have to dig for it.
I too expected the paid version to at least work as good as the free one.
I was willing to pay. Now I just want my money back.
This software is misrepresented.
You comments just tell us that you have not learned how it works and that the previous free version that you are comparing it to must have been a desktop version.
The web version has a different layout.
The toolbars can be found on the left and right of the workspace, via keyboard shortcuts, or via the magnifying glass icon that will find any tool you want that is available.
The Pan tool has always been accessible while using the Orbit tool by holding shift. It has it’s own keyboard shortcut, h. Or it is in the navigation flyout menu, the bottom Icon on the left.
So,I should have stayed with the free version. Som much for trying to make an honest investment and expecting to get at least what I had in the free version.
There are features missing in shop, so frustrating.
By the way, the follow me command only works when it feels like and then is unpredictable.
What features are missing.
That indicates that you just need to take a little time to learn how to use the tool. It is entirely predictable when you’ve learned to use it.
Have you spent any time at The Learning Center and at The SketchUp You Tube Channel. On the Youtube channel spend time with the Square 1 series. Both are sponsored by the SketchUp Crew and well worth the time spent there.
When I use the select tool and try to select an area. The view appears to jump to a previous view and has sever wire frame rectangles on the screen.
I genuinely need help and want to use this progxram.
I have watched every video I could find.
I have invested many hours in trying to learn.
I really want to use this program as I have a lot of things to design.
When I click on select to make a box, the view jumps to what seems like a previous view.
??? Are you picking the right tool? Boxes are modelled with the Rectangle and Push-pull tools. The Select tool (arrow) doesn’t model anything or affect the camera.
Can you share a screen capture of what you are seeing? It does not sound like normal behavoir.
It sounds a bit like you are using the orbit tool, clicking and dragging from one corner (trying to make a selection box) would cause the camera to orbit around the first point of click which is likely to be way off int he background. If you have complex geometry in the model SU will momentarily render it as wire frame boxes while the orbit is taking place. Could this be it? However you mention the orbit tool earlier in the thread which would suggest you know the difference.
Or you have a serious graphics card problem with how OpenGL is being used by your browser to display the modeling window? Which browser are you using to run SU Shop in?
It should work like this:

Thank you for the reply. I am committed to making Sketchup Shop work.
My tendency to OCD won’t’ let me quit.
Sorry for the rant.
I am using a new MacBookPro with Montery and M1 chip.
I will check on how I proceed using orbit.
When I click “select” and try to make a box, the view jumps to what does look like. wire frame.
I think you are on to something. Thank you so much for the reply.
I forgot to say, I am using Safari.
I have not had success with Google or Chrome.
The description of “sever wire frame rectangles” sounds like a graphics card issue, but the browser issue should be looked at first IMO.
I wonder if you are inadvertently activating some tool other than Select? Can you capture a screen-shot and annotate it with a circle or arrow to show which tool icon you are clicking for Select?
I think by “make a box” OP means selection rectangle.
Yes, I agree that the user’s intention seems to be to make a selection with the Select tool. What I wonder is whether or not @benkautz306 is actually invoking the Select tool, or is inadvertently invoking some other tool (Orbit, Rectangle, etc.).
This is what I see when I drag selection boxes with the Select tool. No change in view and no switching to wireframe.

Make a GIF screen capture so we can see what you are doing and seeing.
