Whole object gets cut by other object under it

I want to draw an object as a whole, however when I draw it where it should be, it crosses over another object cutting through the whole object I wanted.

Yeah, that’ll happen and it should, unless you group the first object to prevent it.

I take it you mean the two objects stick together where they touch.
That’s the normal behavior of SketchUp’s ‘sticky’ geometry.

Here’s how to keep things separate…
