Whenever i select a material, it just stays default

i just downloaded skp 2020 pro , skp 2017 maker, and still the material tray doesn’t let me pick any materials, HELP

Please give more information. What do you mean that it doesn’t let you pick any materials? Show us a screen shot of what you are seeing?

When you installed SketchUp, did you do so correctly? That is, did you right click on the downloaded installer file and choose Run as administrator?

i downloaded it just fine, and run them always as admin,

i can however pick materials when its already in the model, but only when its on the “In Model” tray
