I use a Contour Unimouse wireless. Unimouse (Right) - A Fully Adjustable Vertical Mouse
It is hinged so that I can adjust the angle to be more upright which relieves tension in the arm and shoulder. It has 5 buttons and a scroll wheel which are programable.
I have also used the Evoluent vertical mouses (mice?) which have been good but last maybe 2 years before single clicks sometimes become double clicks https://evoluent.com/products/vmdl/
I use this in conjunction with an Evoluent keyboard https://evoluent.com/products/kb1/
This has the number keys on the left side allowing right handed mousing with left handed keyboard use. It took some learning but it’s way faster now mousing and scrolling with the right hand while entering shortcuts and numbers with the left hand. I very rarely use the menus or toolbars on the screen.
I have the logitech G700s (sadly no longer available, i think) and have assigned mostly the drawing tools to three buttons in combination with shift, ctrl and alt. (F3, F8 and F9 for the buttons and then, for example, “select” is F3, “line” is alt+F3, “push/pull” is shift+F3, “follow me” is ctrl+shift+F8 or “offset” is ctrl+shift+alt+F8). Maybe for 12-15 tools and the rest of the shortcuts is assigned to keys on the left side of the keyboard (combined with ctrl, shift and alt).
I haven’t tried yet but have considered getting one of the Scimitar mice from Corsair.
These have a 12-key numpad on the thumb side of the mouse, which gives you a LOT of buttons to map to shortcuts / macros
I think it might prove an excellent solution for some users; for me, I’ve ended up not really using the extra shortcut keys on my keyboard so I’m not sure if this would be great for me or if i’d never click those buttons.
I have chosen RAZER NAGA V2.
With 12 thumb buttons + their “Hypershift” fonction, that’s a killer.
On left hand, a 3D connection Spacemouse mouse, and you have all the essentiel fonction near your fingers. No need the keyboard anymore. (Unless for digit values)
Like others, also would recommend a MX Anywhere mouse (and keyboard combination).
Easy to switch between 3 devices (pc, laptop, tv, mobile, tablet, watch,…) if needed while stil using the same mouse (and/or keyboard).
It also has nice features as copy & paste between systems using the mouse or keyboard only!
If you only work at the office or at home, would recommend the ‘larger’ version, otherwise you could buy the ‘travel’ version which is a bit easier to cary around.
If possible would also recommend an additional mouse thingy, 3dconnexxion spacemouse.
Maybe you’ve seen it in one of many tutorial videos with (TheOneAndOnly)Aaron.
Same here, option for the ‘full’ version which is best for the office or at home, otherwise you could buy the ‘smal’ version so you can carry it around whereever you go.
Well…
I do like the copy&paste feature of the MX mouses when pairing to mulitple devices.
Easily copy files from your desktop/laptop/tablet/phone/smartwatch and copy them to the other device, just by using your mouse.
There are more nice features, but somehow many users do not mention this copy&paste feature
I was having carpel tunnel issues and switched to a Logitech Lift Vertical mouse. It has helped me tremendously! Logitech makes the best mice IMO. I have also added a 3DConnexion SpaceMouse and that thing has made working in 3D so much easier in SketchUp and other 3D programs. It can be frustrating until you get the hang of it, but once you do it is great!
In case you will go with the MX mouse, i would recommend the MX keyboard to complete your MX set.
Both can be paired to (up to 3) different devices, so you only need your MX mouse and keyboard to operate your desktop, laptop, tablet, phone and/or smartwatch.
Another benefit for choosing a MX mouse in combination with the MX keyboard, you only need to install (and update) one instance of the logitech software.

I get that the Spacemouse Pro is not what you want right now but I would consider it in the future… I have been using one for a few years now and could not imagine going back to just a mouse. The reviews suggest it is great for presentation smoothness but my experience is that it is great for most modelling. Anything that makes moving around more intuitive is a real help. It is expensive and takes a little to famiarize but I have found to be a great tool. Good luck with a new mouse and see if you can borrow a SpaceMouse to try it out.
I bought the Spacemouse and CAD mouse combination a while back. They’re very good quality builds, but I honestly didn’t really find the Spacemouse to improve my workflows or even my navigation in general in SketchUp (I’ve always preferred one hand on the keyborad for shortcuts). The CAD mouse on the other hand is great, it’s comfortable to use all day long and has what I need.
I’ll say this too: about 6 months ago my CAD mouse was being really weird. It wasn’t connecting even if I used the 3D Connexion dongle. I went to their website and spoke with a tech on the chat, and after about 2 minutes they determined it was indeed broken, and sent me a new one free of charge. That earned the a long-time customer.
