Looking for advice specifically related to making light plans. Whether it’s a method within Sketchup, or an extension such as Medeek Electrical, or maybe even another program more suitable for it…
I’m currently using manual components that include the “actual” item (outlet, switch, light fixture, etc) grouped with a “symbol” item (the plan-style representation floating several feet above it. This lets me place things accurately and in context of each room & user experience, but on larger projects it gets unwieldy and complicated.
This is what it looks like zoomed out - the “symbols” are floating at 15’ above ground, the “actual” items are wherever they belong:
I’m looking for something that would give me the flexibility of using my own / custom / extensible symbols, but with some sort of automated processing & alignment, as well as assigning items to circuits & having them linked by dashed lines.

selected lights (can auto select them by tag or manual select by other tools) in plan scene with fully customization for symbol shapes (via Sketchup files) and dynamic text linked with the objects information.
Create labels for lights or electrical equipments will be similar with other labels I have created in this video.
As mentioned in other thread - tags + stacked viewport in LO. There is no reason to have the items separated like you do if you just use tags and viewports. But you could also place the symbol on the floor, with the fixture in the ceiling and the symbol could be visible in a plan view using section cuts with the electrical tag turned on.
I am currently rebuilding some of my door components to have swings on them (I currently add them manually in LayOut) and will be using this process.
I used FBU Move Pro. It’s a tool not only allows moving selected object by arrow of keyboard, but also show measurement to another objects and can edit the displaying numbers to re-position object.
Hi @Cyentruk can you provide a link to the extension you mention? I search in the extension warehouse and in google for “FBU Move Pro” and don’t find anything thanks
