I was looking through a collection of old SketchUp images and came across this image. This is a Westport chair, named for the area in northeastern New York where it originated. It’s an older design than the classic Adirondack chair. I drew these for a woodworker who wanted plans. After I drew the one on the left, he said he wanted to be able to use a seat cushion so I lowered the wooden seat a little. I also did a wider version of the chair.
I’ve seen a similar chair made mostly of plywood. They were painted but it looked like the weather hadn’t been kind to them.
