hilarious… I was taught in London by a disciple of the Smithsons, he could be Brutal in crit’s !
The term was possibly coined by Reyner Banham in his book New Brutalism (1966). I don’t think it was a translation error.

& also I had the privilege of meeting the late & also great, Renée Gailhoustet who worked with Jean Renaudie on some truly fabulous public housing in the Paris suburbs (amongst other things)
