Is V-Ray for SketchUp still included with the SketchUp Studio license? I couldn’t figure out how to download the plugin from the Chaos website. Also I remember being able to download it separately without a free trial, and my credit card details. I used it on my Mac about a year ago with a SketchUp Studio license with no issues.
Go to your Trimble products and click on the Launch button for Vray for SketchUp. That should download Vray for SketchUp so you can install it. At least it did for me just a moment ago.
For me, only the Windows version appears and nothing else V-Ray-Mac related can be find there. (Even when I log in from a Mac.)
Finally got it. Gemini to the rescue!
The reason you only see the Windows version on the SketchUp website is that the SketchUp Studio installer bundle is Windows-only (due to other included tools like Revit Importer).
However, your license does entitle you to the Mac version. You just have to download it from the developer (Chaos) directly.
Here is the workaround to get it running on your Mac:
- Go to the Chaos Download Center
Direct Link: download.chaos.com
- Log in with your Trimble ID
This is the most important step. When you click “Sign In” on the Chaos website:
Do not create a new Chaos account.
Look for the option that says “Continue with Trimble” or sign in using the exact same email address you use for your SketchUp Studio subscription.
Why? Your V-Ray entitlement is linked to your Trimble email.
- Select the Mac Installer
Once logged in:
Select V-Ray from the product list.
Select V-Ray for SketchUp.
You should now see a dropdown menu where you can switch the Operating System from Windows to macOS.
Download the installer (usually a .dmg file).
The forum also had a pretty good answer to that ![]()
I guess gemini reads my posts.
