urgent question, Ive been using sketchup now for years and no problem rendering. All of a sudden vray completely crashes when I try and use it, i’ve tried different models, different settings, plain models and troubleshooting it. Would anyone be able to help?
Can you tell us more about what might be happening behind the scenes. If it was working all the time, and now is working none of the time, then it means there must have been some change at the system-level that’s interfering with the way V-Ray wants to normally operate. Did you update SketchUp, V-Ray, or your operating system recently? Can you screenshot and post any error messages or logs you see?
I haven’t updated anything recently, I just updated my graphics card in hopes that, that would fix the problem and the minute I press render bugs plat comes onto the screen.
Ok. Now which V-Ray version. Your profile says SU for Higher EDU..does that mean you have Studio and V-Ray installer came with that? Please provide more detail as to your set up as the point I’m trying to make is that somewhere along the way, something changed that went from working to not working. And we need to know what changed, and therefore the more info you provide the better.
It says I have a classic education licence, the vray licence wasn’t included I use the 30 day free trial of vray. Which hasn’t been an issue before now.
I’m confused. You’ve been rendering for years yet only have a 30 day trial of V-Ray? How is that? And you say you have SU version 2025 yet SU switched away from classic licenses back in 2022. Without accurate information, there is little way for us to help you. Unless you’re using a c-r-a-c-k-ed license, in which case there is zero way anyone will help you.
I’m in an interior design course we were recommended to use a 30 day free trial meaning we make a new one when needed. I don’t think I chose the right one I thought that’s what I have but I’ve checked my licence and it’s a classic educational licence that was granted to us by the college we don’t get funding for vray hence the free trial.
My suggestion would be to get a proper V-Ray EDU license. It costs less than the average textbook - Students | Chaos Education Or perhaps consider other options that your school has authorized licenses for. Enscape for example (as much as I love and advocate for V-Ray), does have a lower learning curve and may work just as well for your needs.
