USS enterprise complex shapes

I’m completely new to Sketchup (started 5 days ago) and I need help making a few complex shapes

I have the basic cylinder created, but I need to create some more complex shapes. I made the shape i need next to the cylinder, but extruding through it doesnt remove anything.
another complex shape i need is this hangar bay area. I can make the dome and detail, but the overhang and curve reference photo is difficult. Any tips? I can’t upload more photos for clarification yet, sorry.

When you extrude through you need to tell it it intersect with the cylinder.
This is the basics of it with the geometry in the same context (not Grouped).
