Using new license on older versions

#1

Hi,

I’ve started working in a company which uses Sketchup 8.

I downloaded Sketchup 8 and bought a license through the website, but it seems the license I received is for Sketchup 2014 and Sketchup 8 won’t accept it. I didn’t see an option to specify which version of Sketchup the license is for.

Is there a way to use Sketchup 8 with this new license or will I be forced to use the latest version?

Thanks for your help.

Basically the license you buy is always for the latest version.

You use SU2014 and “Save As” to v8 files.

Caveat is that it does not remember the file version setting. You have to “Save As” each time.
And backup files (.skb) are always saved in the latest version.

the company can - of course - upgrade their SUP v8 licences too.
