User Interface or Default Template file_Sketchup Pro

Hi. I’m wondering if there’s any way to replicate the SketchUp user interface across several computers. I have my work computer set up with toolbars and hotkeys, along with plugins with floating toolbars at a fixed spot. What I was hoping to do is bring everything to other computers, so I don’t have to spend time arranging everything again if I use different PCs. Or maybe copying some magic folder that has my personal preferences along with plugin info in it?

“Magic” folders are

c:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 20XX
c:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Local\SketchUp\SketchUp 20XX
c:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 20XX

Where:
YOUR_USER_NAME needs to substituted by your user name on a particular computer.
SketchUp 20XX is a folder which you need to copy (substitute XX with version number e.g SketchUp 2021 in your case - if that is rightly written in your forum profile)

Note a) This folders are basically hidden on Windows. You need to go to File Explorer Option, View tab and enable the Show hidden files, folder...

Note b) Use this on your own risk, I can’t give any warranties if it will work or not…

Note c) If you do not understand what I wrote above, better to not do it.

+1

also, if you don’t want to put your hand in there, you can at least export your shortcuts and import them back (in the preference panel)

for the extensions, you can either do it quick and dirty (copy the whole plugin folder and pray the IT gremlin), use an extension manager like sketchucation that’ll allow you to reinstall a whole bundle at once, or manually in the extension manager.

once your extensions are there, yeah, you’ll have to manually recreate your space.

As of the default SU file template, just open you default file on the other computers, and immediately save as template.

granted, it’s not instant, but we’re talking what… 10 min per machine tops, if you know what you’re doing ? once a year ? (plus routine maintaining when you add an extension)
