Urgent help needed: Recovering a corrupted SketchUp 2026 model after a crash

Hello,

I urgently need help recovering an important architectural model.

  • Software: SketchUp 2026 on Windows.
  • Original file size: approximately 176 MB.
  • The program crashed unexpectedly.
  • The original .skp file now displays “Failed to Open Document”.
  • The .skb backup also fails to open after being renamed to .skp.
  • I could not locate the expected working or recovery folder.

This model contains several days of important work, and I need to recover the latest version if at all possible.

Could someone with experience in SketchUp file recovery help me determine whether the model data can be salvaged?

Thank you very much.

If you share the file we might be able to help you. Upload the file to a file sharing service like DropBox and share the link.

Your profile says you have a Classic license with SketchUp 2026 but there isn’t a Classic license for that one. Which version are you actually using? Where were you saving the file while working on it? Were you saving backups to your Trimble Connect storage?
