Urgent: 158MB SketchUp 2025 file showing "Unexpected file format" - 15 days of work

Hello @colin and community experts,

I am in urgent need of assistance. My 158 MB SketchUp 2025 file worked fine until yesterday, but today it fails to open with the error: “Unexpected file format” (initially gave “Failed to open document”).

Here is what I have already checked:

  1. The backup .skb file gives the exact same error.
  2. I inspected the archive using 7-Zip: the inner “model.dat” is present and intact (~150 MB), along with the standard SketchUp 2025 folders (materials, meta, styles, thumbnails).
  3. Attempting to import into a blank file or replacing model.dat into a fresh SketchUp 2025 file produces an “Unexpected file format” error, likely due to an internal ID mismatch or interrupted write in the database.

This file represents 15 days of critical project work. Could someone please help salvage or repair the model using CLI/hex recovery tools?

Here is the Google Drive link to the corrupted .skp file:

The last part of the file contains nothing but zeroes making the file unrecoverable. Where were you saving the file while working on it? This is a cr acked version of SketchUp you are using?
