Unable to use "Edit 3D view" on viewport in Layout

I first noticed this with 20.1 and thought that it would be back to normal with 20.2, but no luck:

Select viewport and double-click - nothing happens.
Select viewport and right-click to select “Edit 3D view” and it is actually greyed out.

Anybody else with this problem, or am I doing something wrong?

You’re not doing anything wrong and there’s nothing wrong with LayOut so it wasn’t something to fix in the next revision. This was added to prevent those inadvertent edits that created no end of problems for some users. Go to Preferences and enable it if you need it.

Ha! I knew there had been something done for those pesky edits, just didn’t make the connection.
