Hi there, I’m a high school Ag Mech teacher looking for advice. I’m using the education version of sketchup to edit DXF files. My students have been using PNG or JPEG files to take over to convertio. They then convert to a DXF and edit in sketchup. After that they export and take to a shop computer with sheetcam. Where they make their TAP files for Mach3. One of my biggest issues I’ve come across with my students projects is when they import their DXF file from convertio rounded edges always come out really rough. For an example and a round silhouette png/jpeg goes in, and then the file into sketchup comes out as an octagon. Obviosity that’s a very simplistic example, but it happens on all images that use any curved line. Is there a way to fix this issue within sketchup? I’m trying to avoid using a different program. It’s already confusing to my high school aged kids with the amount of programs they are currently using.
If there is a completely different approach I should take, I’m open to suggestions. My student all have access to chromebooks, so I’m limited to the type of programs I can run. My main goal is for them to be able to make any jpg or png into a nice plasma cut on the cnc table.
