Thanks for noticing ![]()
hi, i have a problem with my truebend plugin. so, i downloaded it from sketchucation and its the newest version. for some moment, sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn’t. can anyone help me with this? ![]()
Please provide examples of when it does and doesn’t work for you. Without that we can only guess what you are doing and how it went wrong.
I am trying to taper section in a vertical plane. I am trying to set the global and component coordinates in all possible combinations. It just bends that way it does. Can you please have a look at the attached 2021 Pro file.
Forum1.skp (217.4 KB)
It is unclear from your model what you are wanting to do.
Truebend will only bend on the Groups red axis, changing the global axis does nothing, and even changing the group/component axis has it’s limitations. You can move the red axis back and forth and up and down to effect the center of rotation, but it still needs to be the red axis.
Here you see I reset your Global axis, then reposition the group and explode then regroup it to make it align with the red axis. Then it bends predictably in relation to the red axis.

I am trying to bend it as in the snap shot. I am placing it along the red axis, I want the bend to happen in the vertical plane.
Also there must something going wrong when I try to change the axes, either the global or the component local axes. There is a bug splat crash.
The view in the .skp file was the result of what I got.
Other than aligning it to the global red axes in the length direction, which of the 2 other axes determines the bend direction?
The 2 small portions on the ends is to get a semi circle section that will not be distorted after the bent. I understand that only a single component can be bend.
How many times do I need to say it, changing the global axes does work with truebend.
Reset the axes so blue is up, position the object along the red axis, explode and regroup it to set the group axis to red, or select all three parts and make them one group on the red axis, then bend it.
The red axis.
No, a single group can contain multiple groups which can be bent.

Sorry, I did not realize that. need to align the component to the natural global axes (without altering). How can I make the tab (the one used to make the bend) show up in the blue axes direction? I can make it show in the top by using the green component axes selection in the blue global axes direction.
but it does not give the bend direction that I am looking for.
You can’t, that’s what I keep saying. It will only bend on the red axis along the red axis.
So rotate the object so that the bend is aligned correctly and explode and regroup so that it’s red axis is aligned with the global red axis. Then bend.
After that rotate it back to the way you want it.
I can’t say it any more clearly than, it will only bend correctly along the red axis.
thanks Box for the trouble. Now that I realize this, I shall ask what I am trying to do in a new topic.
Is this what you are trying to do.

Yes. It did not occur to me before.
