Trimming an image

Hi
I have pasted an image (pdf format) onto a page, and now want to trim it. Is this possible? If I click on the image the blue border with handle toggles will appear, but and change to these simply scales the image. I don’t want to scale it, I want it to stay the same scale, but trim it so that parts of it are no longer visible.
Any help appreciated!

A clipping mask, perhaps?

A clipping mask. You can draw any shape over you image, sele ct both and context click "create clipping mask. The outline of that can be given a stroke color/thickness too if you want.
