2024 has retained the icon changes from 23.1.315 with some minor adjustments. I’m still concerned about the cursor icon for many of the default tools. For example, the large red move cursor icon (twice as large as the pre-23.1.315 move cursor icon) continues to obstruct the geometry and snaps despite zooming in. So I attempted to copy and paste the 2023 cursor icon svg files into the 2024 cursor icon folder in my program files - to no avail, the cursor icons remain. Is there any way we can change our cursor icons back to black on a user by user basis? Just a bit more control over the look and feel of Sketchup for us long time (and now grey haired) users who may or may not have played an integral role in establishing Sketchup as the primary 3D tool in our design practices ![]()
I believe that the vector svg cursor icons get rendered into the screen space set by the SketchUp app, so swapping the files won’t change the size.
This is a step backwards. The large icons are obtrusive and unnecessary. It smacks of entry level software targeting preschoolers.
I tried hard to get used to the new icons - without success!!!
The new Icons request attention a concentration
Works slows down - especially when days are getting long -
With growing age, my eyes don’t help either.
Here is my request :
-
Alternative give users a chance to choose with a simple mouse click (preferences)
-
Alternative a smart developer writes a plugin
Hope to get a soon response!!
Best regards,
U. Paar
I think that the icons are “baked” in and I don’t think using the API can help.
I have been using certain extensions to replicate some of the native tools so that I minimise seeing the ghastly native tool icons.
I made an aborted attempt to write my own orbit tool but with my current API and ruby knowledge life is too short.
