Thumbnails in Open File have gone

When going to Open File I don’t see the thumbnails of the drawings anymore. They have also disappeared from my browser and they are not generated anymore. How do I get them back?

I’m only really guessing at this point, but as no one else has answered, I will give it a go…

According to your profile you are using Windows 8.1, and I seem to recall issues with thumbnails with that OS. Try deleting the thumbnails cache first.

Or is it only the Sketchup thumbnails that are missing? That would imply something else is messed up, so it might be worthwhile reinstalling Sketchup with the repair option.

If you are running the 32-bit version of Sketchup Make and are running a 64-bit version of Windows, then that will be the cause of the issue, as the 32-bit version cannot generate the thumbnails for a 64-bit operating system.

Alternatively, the answer is even simpler. Have you inadvertently held down the ctrl key while paging up and down with the mouse wheel? In that case the open file dialog may have switched to a list view. Right-click in the open file area and change the view back to large icons.

Hi Centaur, thanks for your input.
Only the Sketchup thumbnails are missing, in Open File (etc) and in my browsers.
My Sketup-version is 16.1.1449 64-bit.
I’ve recently tried to install Make 17 but that didn’t work. Perhaps things went wrong there.

I’ve reinstalled Sketchup with the Repair option as you suggested and all my thumbnails are back, so thank you very much for taking the time to help me and coming up with a solution!!
