TF Rubies Shop Drawings NORTH

Hello,
I have set North in my model, and am trying to make shop drawings for my timbers.
However, every time I make a shop drawing, the North on the drawing does not correspond to the North in the model.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jill

Why did you choose the set North as the inverse of the green-axis ?
By default the green-axis is ‘North’.
Your model seems symmetrical so there is no advantage in having things set up oddly…

You haven’t explained how you are making your ‘shop-drawings’.

A simple fix seems possible…

More info please…

The model was built before I knew the orientation of the actual site. The barn opening need to be on the south side of the building.
Using TF Rubies, right click on a component and choose “TF Make Shop Drawings”.
I need to have an accurate representation of NWES in my shop dwgs because we use specific reference sides for measurements.

Are you referring to the standard Top view and your N being positioned at the bottom?

The standard views are locked to fixed orientations and can’t be changed. You could use an extension like TIG’s Rotate Plan View to put your N up.

It does seem kind of odd to have changed your North setting 180° from the normal location. And for shop drawings, north really shouldn’t matter anyway.

I will try rotating the whole model.

The letter N was placed for reference when printing images.

Just seem pointless to change “North” if it doesn’t actually change North in the model when it comes to making shop drawings.

This seems like a question for the Timber Framing extension (TF Rubies). Its shop drawings may assume north is the green axis regardless of how you have altered SketchUp’s solar north direction. Disclaimer: I don’t use that extension, this is just a guess.

Thank you, this seems like the most useful answer explaining my issue!

Respectfully I disagree: the issue seems to be that @jd27 thought that TF Rubies would refer to the solar north direction when generating its drawings, whereas it actually just uses standard SketchUp views (as you wrote).
