Texture Import does not Work

I’m using Sketchup Pro 2025. I have a two dimension rectangle I’m trying to fill with an imported jpg. I have ‘shaded with texture’ selected. I’ve updated to 2025. I have reset the workspace. All to no avail as I’m not even given the option to import as a texture as shown in the attached file.

I’ve done this before sometime ago in a 2023 version on this same computer, but something has changed …

Thanks in advance on any help as I’ve tried all of the suggestions I’ve found online.

Importing images as textures does work in SketchUp 2025. I just did it a few minutes ago in a demo for a student. Hard to tell from your tiny screen shot but it looks like you are looking at the back face of the rectangle. Orbit around to the front and see if the texture is applied there.

What is the file type for the image you are importing? .jpg? .png? ???

Thank you DaveR.

I agree. It does work! I rebooted my computer after the update and everything seems to be working as advertised.

Apologies for my confusion.

In your screen shot, the choice to import as: (Image object, Textured material or PhotoMatch) does not appear until after you select a file of one of the supported image types. Your screen shot shows that no file has yet been selected.

Thank you Dan. I noticed that as well. Another, potential pitfall of the unsuspecting texture importer;)

Yes, but another way to do this is to click the (+) button on the Material inspector dialog and the Create Material window pops up. Then, either checking the [ ] use texture image box or clicking the Browse for Material Image File button will open a file browse dialog with a Choose Image caption. There is no doubt of what the choice will do.

This also affords you opportunity to set other material properties and change the name.

You could set File Explorer to show file extensions so you can see what kind of file you’re importing. Or, in the lower right corner of the Import window choose the file type instead of All Supported Types.
