Today I retried the test file that was posted in the thread I linked to in version 2021 and the page that didn’t work in 2020.2 worked now. In 2020,2, for some reason, Raster rendering left the text out on a page, but Vector render worked OK. Well, it looks as it might be fixed in 2021.
I’ve never had Hybrid render crash LO on any of my files but I’ve seen files from others that have caused it. Usually when I’ve seen it the problem has been related to a problem SU file. As Anssi suggests, you could try in LO2021.
Hi I have just tried again to use hybrid. 5 minutes into rendering and all I’m getting is the Not Responding message which I am beginning to think should be Layouts new name.
I don’t want to risk upgrading as I am part way through a large project. It’s very frustrating.
Installing SU2021 does not remove 2020 or prevent you from continuing your project in 2020. You can try 2021 to see what results you get and as long as you don’t save the file, you can go back to 2020. Or you can Save as back to 2020 if you want. Or you can just wait until you are finished with the current project. Up to you but there’s nothing to worry about if you install 2021 now.
Hi Dave,
I have downloaded 2021 and it has been 30 mins rendering so far using hybrid. I haven’t had the not responding message which may be an improvement!
I lied. It has just popped up.
I have checked the model and there are no reported issues so I have no idea what is wrong.
How big is the SketchUp model? Have you purged unused from it?
Not Responding is a message indicating that LayOut is busy and won’t respond to your inputs until it’s finished. It’s like when you tell your kids to leave you alone while you are trying to do some work.
Yes I have purged all the unused stuff. It is big. It is 150MB
Sounds like there’s probably a lot of stuff to render then.
The scenes only ever show a fraction of the model. Does it try to render it all or just what is shown in the scene?
It can look at the rest of the model space to see if there’s anything that needs modeling. Turn off tags for stuff that doesn’t need to be shown. Make your model space and scenes as simple as possible.
I have turned off all non-visable tags. I may have to start splitting it up into separate models.
Just tried the export again with raster. Still no text coming out.
Output jpeg on left. Layout 2021 on the right.
I’ve tried exporting one by one and increasing the resolution and neither make a difference.
The jpg shows it’s page 2 while the view of LayOut shows you are looking at page 1.
It would be interesting to, a. see what you get if you export only the template/title block stuff with no viewport and b. what happens if someone else (perhaps me) exports it on their computer.
Hi just exported the template - blocks etc and it works fine so it must be something to do with the model
Hi All,
I have just been playing around and noticed that the text block disappeared in layout during the export and therefore didn’t appear in the jpeg.
I have just zoomed in to the page while in layout so that the text on the screen is large and then exported. This appears to fix the problem. The text appears again in the jpg.
Interesting.
