Tape Measure not creating guide points

Hey there,

I’ve searched the forums and the web but I have yet to find a solution to my problem.

I was using the tape measure tool to help me create guide points but all of a sudden this has stopped work and will for some reason only create guide lines. Here’s a list of the things I’ve tried:

  1. Restarting SketchUp
  2. Testing within a new SketchUp file
  3. Made sure I hadn’t clicked CTRL
  4. Made sure my guide layer was turned on.

Any solutions?

First, View menu. Check that Guides are enabled.

Second, guide points are created when you start from a point or intersection.

Ahhh, that seems to be the issue. Are there any ways to create guide points without having to start from a point or intersection? I.e. starting from a mid-point.

Easy way is to put a crossing guide line at the midpoint so there’s an intersection.

So a guide line and constitute as an intersection?

An intersection is formed when a guide line crosses an edge. Try it and see for yourself.
