Surface not showing shadows

I have a file where a flue on a sloped roof is not receiving a shadow that is being cast from another component. I have tried (I believe) all possible combinations of shadows on/off, cast shadows on/off, receive shadows on/off, etc. And I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what has happened to this shadow.

I have attached a greatly simplified drawing file that shows the problem.

I feel that there must be one more switch or something that got set incorrectly for the roof.

Not a matter of life or death but any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

I had just figured that out! I should’ve puzzled it a bit longer before posting, but I was getting a bit frazzled.
