Today, I was teaching a client how to create keyboard shortcuts, and we were unable to save them to her computer. I oversaw and directed her to ensure they were added correctly.
The shortcuts would be available only for that session. But once she shut down SU and restarted it, the shortcuts were reset, and we had to reset them. We started to reload shortcuts from the export file we created after the second or third attempt.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this issue?

There are two things that often cause what you describe. One is if SketchUp was not installed correctly. The sure way is to right-click the installer and choose “run as administrator”. This IS NOT the same as being logged in as administrator. Some people succeed without the run-as step, but success is evidently sensitive to just how your computer and account were set up, as for other people all kinds of odd issues result. Reinstalling and using run-as then choosing the “repair” option will usually fix a bad installation.
The second possibility is that you are trying to set shortcuts that are reserved to the OS or to SketchUp, typically by use in built-in menu shortcuts. These include many key chords that include the command key (or option key on Mac). These may work for a session but are reset when SketchUp launches and sets up its menus. There is no workaround for this case; it is not a bug.
