SU Anamorphic

Hello everyone,
I’m working on a hotel project in which I want to develop anamorphic views based on images and models/objects.
For the objects, I don’t have any complexities, so it’s up to me to divide them up into multi-objects and position them to create an illusion effect as far as the real thing, depending on the angle of view.
On the basis of images, importing them in projected form works but is nevertheless complex and sometimes difficult to implement.
I haven’t been able to find a plugin that allows anamorphic projection of an image onto surfaces depending on the viewing angle, am I wrong?
Would there be a solution for simply making these projections, a bit like what blender offers?

Help would be greatly appreciated and ideally the development of a dedicated plugin for even more solutions with Sketchup.
Thanks in advance

Hello

You could use match photo and project texture

Hi @paul.millet ,
Thanks for your quick answer. I try match photos but for the moment did not succeed to make it match as I want.
I will provide on monday a sketch exemple for help to find the right way to do it.
Thanks

it might not be easy playing with vanishing points to get the right viewing angle you want.
You may need to change axes or copy/paste some part of your model in a new file first (for example one bedroom if it’s a hotel)
We’ll see tomorrow then !

Hi @paul.millet ,
Here the exemple discussed
This is the effect I wanted: when I get out of the lift (1 metre away), looking down the corridor of rooms, I see this numbering:

Between 2 appointments I’ll do a few tests and let you know if I get a satisfactory result.

ANAMORPHOSE_bedroom corridor.skp (7.7 MB)

Thanks for your help, have a nice day

ANAMORPHOSE_bedroom corridor.skp (8.1 MB)
anamorph

it’s a bit tricky to set up, green vanishing point has to be far far away. But if you’re patient enough, you can have an acceptable result

Note that it won’t project from a transparent png so I turned it into a Jpeg

(sorry I kind of unhid some objects in your model)

another way to achieve this would be extruding 3D text (or using a plugin that can explode 2D text, I know there’s one) that you place in your view and intersect with your walls, and then apply a color to it, it’ll be easier for keeping the right textures in D5 render

Thanks a lot for this good try.
Still on meeting, I will make my test.
Regarding 3D modeling I will stay for the moment with transformed projected image, as in other case I will manage with specific pictures (eg. A chair for “false” seating on a wall angle as this exemple:

In all the case thanks a lot for your help.
