SU 2015, Windows laptop - Selection Window does not show. I can select objects but there is not a section window. How do I turn it on?
Try turning off Hardware Acceleration under Window>Preferences>OpenGL. See if that makes the selection fence show up. Also check to see if there are any driver updates for your graphics card. Although they might have a dedicated graphics card, many laptops also have integrated GPUs and often it is that GPU that is being used unless you specifically set up the other one. It would be helpful if you would investigate and report what your comuter does have for a graphics card.
