Styles + Shadow Settings

I am having a hard time showing a 2D plane with a texture. I didn’t have this issue until I upgraded to 2025, but ever since upgrading I have had a problem. My firm wants to show floor plans in 2D for “as built” view, so when we show the plan in Layout it will show the walls in a light gray texture, demo lines to be dashed lines, etc. My issue is when I am in the top view, parallel projection, the texture applied to the 2D plane does not show up but reflects a white texture instead. I have attached screenshots for reference. Please help! We typically work with the “Shaded with Textures” style.

It’s nothing t do with shadows. My guess is that someone has modified the “Shaded with textures” style to use the “Hidden lines” view style. Post the model for more informed opinions.

It seems to me that your style should be using “Colour by Tag”. When I turn that on, I see this:

All the faces in your model have the Default material applied. No textures have been used.

The only faces that have any materials in the model are the ones in the objects shown selected.

A few observations:

If you expect to created scaled views of your of your model remember to set the camera to Parallel Projection. The 1st Floor scene and others shows Perspective when they should be set to Parallel Projection.

Also ensure correct tag usage in the model. ALL edges and faces should be untagged. Only groups and components should be given tags. Untagged should always be left active, too.

This is so weird - I see the color by tag which is too colorful for what we are trying to show, but I have a color applied to the block now…will you see what this file shows?

and when I adjust shadow settings I can only see the texture when looking at the model at an angle, not from top view…

That’s not a texture. It’s just the default front face material being shown with shading.

As for the shading, you have the Light and Dark sliders crossed up so you shouldn’t see shadows at all.

Fix those sliders and you’ll get shadows.

I applied a texture though so I don’t understand what you mean by “not a texture “ ? I reuploaded the model…the default is a white but the texture I applied is a light gray, you should see it in the model

I don’t want any shadows to show at all

There’s a gray color applied but because of the sliders, as I showed, you’ve got the “sun” too bright.

Why do you have Shadows turned on, then? If you don’t want them turn the shadows OFFand update the scenes.

what if I don’t want any shadows but want the walls to appear to be the light gray? See if this video explains better?

Turn the shadows off and make the gray a little darker than you currently have it.

Look at this version. I turned off the shadows for all of the scenes, fixed incorrect tag usage and purged unused. You’ll still need to fix the Camera for the plan and any elevation views.
