Students no longer able to login

We use Chromebooks and have been using SketchUp for schools since October with no issues. In the last couple of weeks we have started getting reports that students get stuck on the login screen and it just keeps loading and never opens. Just shows the Sketchup logo. Currently, the teacher tells me that no students are able to get in any longer.

I have double checked Google admin to make sure Sketchup for Schools is pushed and it is. Nothing has changed in Google. I took a device home to test outside of the district filters and at home the login just loops (goes back to asking me to choose Google or Microsoft) and never logs in.

Any ideas on what has happened and how to fix it?

I know Google is deprecating ChromeOS apps, but I don’t think that would apply here. I am at a loss hence asking for help.

I tried logging in as an educator and was able to login connecting to my Google account.

However, if I login to Google with a student account and try on this same exact device it doesn’t login, it just flips me back to the original login screen.

Wondering if our student domain got removed from your whitelist maybe? Not sure why staff account would work but not student but I am open to (actually desperate for) any suggestions.

Our main domain is allenisd.org but our students in google use student.allenisd.org

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary, please reach out to @Tori_SU and see if she can schedule you for a video call to unblock you.

A school of mine is experiencing the same issue, and is using the same methods as the original post any resolution on this?

Thanks,

Hi @Jordanc, thanks for the post and sorry to hear that you are seeing this particular issue. I’ll see if I can get any tips from Tori_SU on what the issue was and if we can get it resolved ASAP. If we can’t get it resolved easily, we may need to set up a support call.

In the meantime please make sure that:

  1. You have enabled popups and third party cookies for our site on both a domain level and user level. Failure to do this will prevent the login process from resolving correctly.

  2. Any additional firewalls and/or antivirus software is not blocking the site.

Once you have done that, let me know. Also, please let me know if you are using Google or Microsoft to deploy the app. Knowing that will help me narrow down a few things on our end and maybe even rule out an issue.

Hello Casey,

Appreciate the reply, I can confirm we have done both of those things you mentioned. We are using Google to push the app and are using Microsoft to authenticate for login. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
Jordan

Thanks for the suggestion  For now, things appear to be working again. Not sure what changed, but I will keep an eye on it and if we run into trouble I will reach out as suggested.

Thanks again,

Gary
