SketchUp 2024 was released before Revit 2025. My calendar shows that we are still in the year 2024. The Revit file format is proprietary to Autodesk. The importer is probably dependent on Autodesk or third party conversion libraries that might not yet exist. Just guessing.
Can you give an example of a non-Autodesk application that can already do this?
problem is when small companies like mine purchase both and buy studio specifically for the ongoing interoperability with Revit so some staff work on the drawings in Revit whilst others on the modelling in Sketchup Studio and both software would be updated constantly to its latest version, this inconsistency or “waiting on the other side to update library” really impedes workflow and will lead inevitably to one of them being ditched. The way I see it, that update could not be longer than maximum a week and that is pushing it. That is just my view as a business owner dependent on software doing the job they’ve been purchased for.
You never* have to upgrade immediately … especially if you are using both.
*unless there are serious bugs or security issues
The Sketchup 24 version I use at work was upgraded to studio to try out for about a month before the subscription ran out, for the sole reason of being able to import revit files for office/classroom furniture that were being considered in a room layout.
Sketchup Studio could not open any revit files I tried to import.
Not sure of the revit version the files were, but from what I could tell the problem was from being in a revit family file, not just plain revit or something?
A Revit Family file (.rfa) is not a 3D model file. Basically it consists of instructions and parameters for Revit to build a 3D model of the component when inserted into a Revit model. The RFA file format is proprietary to Autodesk, only able to be edited in the Family Editor within Revit. You would have to insert the families into a model and then import that model into SketchUp.
Correct you are, I discovered. The lesson is, do your research. What seems like it should just work…see a model on manufactures site…download as revit file it says. Import to studio that imports revit files and nothing. I lobbied where I work to get studio because of this capability and sadly had to say sorry about spending your money…I was wrong
