It’s a blast from the past! 3 years ago @TheOnlyAaron first modeled a steam engine, and this Friday he is going to be returning to the designs to model anew. Join us on YouTube, LinkedIn, or Facebook to see how you can take a complex design and bring it to life inside of SketchUp
Sounds tailored for a guest presenter: @DaveR!
Hey @TheOnlyAaron just curious, for the live streams, you are on a 16’ MacBook Pro yes? Do just use the laptop screen? Is there enough real estate on it for prolonged use? Or do you have an external monitor?.. Thinking of getting a 16” for working at home, as no longer have a dedicated home workspace.
Who do you think taught Dave to model these things ![]()
I do… All my videos and streams are done on my 16” MacBook. I do use external monitors for “office work” and often use it to display reference imagery/plans, but the display is very good and pretty easy to work with.
Thanks for the heads up Donovan! Looking forward to this one. The last one was really good. Cheers, Transom
Great - I’ll prob get one!.. think there are new MacBooks out soon,
The first thing that came to my mind
@Donavon, are there any plans available for this? It looks like a Muncaster single oscillating engine.
Look at that engine closely. The flywheel rotation axis is 90° to the cylinder’s axis of oscillation. Looks like AI’s interpretation of a steam engine.
I only glanced at the image, so let’s see if Aaron can come up with one of his famous workarounds to make it work then!
Here’s one that should work.
That’s a fun one to model. I did it a long while back but I still remember doing that column. I even animated it. ![]()
Also, since I forgot to put this up during the live stream… here is the engine modeled from the plan set Dave sent me (yeah… SET… as in three pages!)
Hello. Where can I find the drawings?
