Soften Edges does not operate how it did before

“A” is the most I can soften edges before it turns into “B” which is nearly invisible, and therefore not usable for me.

I feel like the soften edges feature used to work perfectly… is there some setting I can change to make it back to how it used to be?

Thanks in advance.

Soften Edges works exactly as it has for more than a decade. Share the file so we can see exactly what you’ve set up. Most likely you have Profiles turned off in the style but if you share the file we won’t have to guess.

Here is the file

Andrews Family Room - 7_29_24.skp (801.6 KB)

That’s not the same file from your screenshot. What edges are you trying to soften?

It is the same file. I deleted the parts in my screenshot but they are copies of the upper-most piece of the fireplace mantel. I’m trying to soften that piece, and the curved parts of the light fixture close to the ceiling.

The mantle roundovers are already softened with the Angle between normals at 20°. No problem softening the edges in the light fixture either.

You are talking but are not listening to me.

My software is unable to produce what yours is producing. This is my softened light fixture.

I’ve been trying to help you. You haven’t be explaining yourself well. I mentioned turning on Profiles in my first reply. When I opened your file Profiles were turned on although you had not updated the style. Turn on Profiles in the style again and update the style by clicking on the style’s thumbnail in the upper left corner of the Styles panel.

What about my comment was upsetting?
