Slicing and exporting similar sized pieces

I have a Sketchup component (that is not a solid) that I need to slice into multiple, same size pieces that I can export independently.

What method, or tool do people tend to find is the most straightforward and simple way to do this ?

Can you make it a solid?

If not, you could draw rectangles as the slices and use Intersect Faces.
